Not far outside Atlanta is one of the most beautiful and popular hikes throughout the state. The Sawnee Mountain Preserve has around 11 miles of total hiking trails available, but the trail up to Indian Seats gives you a spectacular view with a 3.5-mile hike.
You may have seen pictures of Yonah Mountain without realizing it because this trail features some phenomenal views of the north Georgia landscape. It’s a rather short 2.1 miles but it does have significant elevation gain.
Georgia is home to the southern end of the Appalachian Trail, so many hikers love to take on sections of the Appalachian Trail in the area. A particularly popular choice is the Byron Reece Trail which brings you to the summit of Blood Mountain.

Providence Canyon is known as “Georgia’s Little Grand Canyon,” and it’s a fantastic place for anyone who loves the outdoors. The loop trail gives you a stunning view to enjoy and lets you explore the area, with 2.5 miles that are rated as easy to moderate.
Raven Cliff Falls is known as one of the Georgia hikes with the most breathtaking views. Located near the quaint Alpine village of Helen, the Raven Cliff Falls Trail is 3.3 miles each way so it’s perfect for a long day out in the mountains.
If you’re in Atlanta and you want a hike that doesn’t have a long drive, check out the East Palisades Trail in Sandy Springs. This trail follows the Chattahoochee Rivers so there’s a lovely view along the entire path.
