NOTICE TO BUTTS COUNTY CITIZENS:
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Logic and Accuracy testing and preparation of voting and tabulation equipment to be used in the June 21, 2022 General Primary Runoff will begin on the following date, time and location:

Testing will continue on a daily basis until complete and is open to interested persons who wish to observe.

Job Opening: Planning and Development-Planner

Position Available:  Planning and Development-Planner

The Butts County Commissioner’s Office is seeking applicants for the position Planner I under the Department of Planning and Development. This position is supervised by the Director of Planning and Development is responsible for researching and preparing information related to planning functions within the department.

The Planning and Development Planner I must have a working knowledge of the operation of this department. The incumbent is directly involved in the current and long-range planning programs of the County as they relate to the development and implementation of land use and related zoning plans and policies.  Other duties include but are not limited to conducting research in specific or general project areas; collecting a variety of statistical data and prepare reports and maps on topics such as census information, land use, tax base data, and occupancy rates; interpreting and applying applicable federal, state, and county codes, ordinances and regulations as directed; attending all assigned regularly scheduled meetings of the County Commissioners, Planning Commission, and the Board of Zoning Appeals.

Required Qualifications

Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field, or a combination of education, experience and skills that meet the prerequisites of the position.

Bachelor’s degree in planning, or related field from an accredited college/university.

1-3 years of municipal/governmental planning experience (preferred).

Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated

Must be willing to take a drug test and allow a criminal background check.

Ability to lift up to 20 pounds, as well as stand or sit for extended periods of time for meetings/reviews.

Ability to communicate with the general public, professionals, and staff clearly and concisely in written and oral format.

General understanding of GIS, CAD, and other related software including proficiency in Microsoft Office, and/or plan submittal software.

Processes rezoning, variance, and special use applications.

Reviews commercial, residential, and industrial plans and permits applications with respect to compliance.
