The Mayor and City Council of Roswell have entered into an agreement with the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) of the City of Roswell, defining a scope of work for the creation of a master plan of one of its busiest intersections.
At their August 29, 2022, meeting, Mayor and City Council approved the intergovernmental agreement (IGA) with the DDA to create a master plan for the intersection of Holcomb Bridge Road and GA 9 and a half-mile around it. The DDA will contract with the Sizemore Group planning firm to complete the plan.
"We're excited by this opportunity to redevelop an area near a central intersection in our City. We envision mixed-use development and community services at this location," said Mayor Kurt Wilson. "The plan will serve as a framework to attract high-quality development to Roswell."
The scope of work includes a site analysis, interviews with City staff and key stakeholders, case study research, and a planning workshop. The end result is master plan and summary with specific recommendations by the Sizemore Group.
The Sizemore Group has 40 years of designing projects that improve communities and have designed places such as Centennial Olympic Park, the Emory University Goizueta Business School and the Smyrna Town Center.
"This is a powerful opportunity," said Councilmember Peter Vanstrom, liaison for the City's Economic Development initiatives. "It will bring together the residents, landowners, City staff, and the City Council and Mayor to work through a process of redevelopment truly defining and exploring what we want to be in Roswell. I can't wait to get this going."
