City Of Tybee Island News : Tybee Island Appoints New Police Chief

The City of Tybee Island is pleased to announce the appointment of Assistant Police Chief Tiffany Wall Hayes to the position of Police Chief, effective January 1, 2023. Police Chief Bob Bryson is retiring after 23 years of service to the city.

“Chief Hayes has demonstrated her leadership abilities to the City of Tybee Island for more than two decades, said Tybee Island Mayor Shirley Sessions. “Our city is in good hands thanks to her training, professional experience and love for our city.”Assistant Chief Hayes is a Tybee Island native who has worked for the police department for 26 years.

She began her career as a dispatcher at 18 years old and moved up the ranks to become the island’s first-ever Assistant Police Chief. She has served as a certified officer for 22 years and graduated from the prestigious FBI National Academy in December 2021.
