Come One, Come All to the Doris K. Wells Heritage Festival!

One of DeKalb County Public Library's most anticipated annual events, the Doris K. Wells Heritage Festival celebrates DeKalb County's diversity throughout the months of December and January.

The purpose of the Festival is to honor, share, and learn about the diverse cultural heritages of DeKalb County residents through special programs.

Download the Festival guide for December here. For "Registration Required" events, register using the online Event Calendar here.

Great Books for Makers and Bakers

Make handmade gifts and cook up a storm with a selection from our Reading Recommendations for December.

For the crafty giver of gifts, check out the Handmade Holidays: Do-It-Yourself Gifts list here.

Are you a beginner cook or already a pro? Everyone will want a taste of what you cook up with a recipe from one of the selections in the Cakes, Cookies, Pies, and More: Great Books About Baking list. See it here.

Reduce Social Isolation with SeniorCONNECT

Feeling lonely and being isolated can be bad for your health. That is one of the reasons why we have our SeniorCONNECT outreach program for homebound seniors.

The program provides ongoing library resources and opportunities for connecting with others, for those age 55+. Take part in book discussions, attend programs virtually, and get technical support for electronic library resources from home. Find more information and register for the program here.

Consider a Gift to Support the Library

Donations to the DeKalb Library Foundation in 2022 allowed DCPL to offer more than 200 special programs attended by more than 4,000 children and adults. A gift in any amount helps our librarians plan educational, cultural, and literary programs and services to benefit our community. Consider a gift by December 31 to support our librarians' 2023 programming ideas. Click here to donate now.

Check out our December Explore More! Calendar

Do something new every day with the Explore More! Calendar. It is filled with activities for kids of all ages. Download it here.
