Nice to Meet You, 2023!
As we begin a new year, we are excited to continue providing resources, programs, and services for everyone in our community. Whether you are looking for your next great read, wanting to learn something new, or seeking a sense of belonging, the library is here to support you. We wish you a healthy and prosperous 2023.

Choose from More Than 200 Programs in January!
With more than 200 programs for people of all ages, there is always something for you to do. Take your pick of storytimes, book clubs, classes, crafts, art exhibits, virtual programs, and so much more.

Click Events on our homepage to browse the calendar. From there, you can search or sort by keyword, branch, age group, event type, or date. If you prefer a printed catalog, stop by your local library for a Program Guide for Children and Teens or Adults.

Holiday Hours
All DeKalb County Public Library branches will be closed Sunday, January 1 and Monday, January 2 in honor of the New Year.

All DeKalb County Public Library branches will also be closed on Monday, January 16 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Doris K. Wells Heritage Festival January Spotlight

Did you know that the Doris K. Wells Heritage Festival of DeKalb County's diversity continues through the end of January? Don't miss these programs:

Eighteen Artifacts -- The Story of Jewish Atlanta: Now through Monday, January 9 at Toco Hill-Avis G. Williams Library

Tales to Learn and Tell -- Stories from the Gullah and African American Cultures by storyteller LaDoris Bias-Davis: Saturday, January 7 from 2:00-3:30 p.m. at County Line-Ellenwood Library

New episodes of our Three Reasons to Watch World Cinema series posted on our YouTube and TikTok channels: Fridays, January 13, 20, and 27

Unsung Heroes of African American History-- Reenactments of the lives of Dr. Helen Nash and Robert Smalls: Saturday, January 28 from 11:00 a.m.-noon at Flat Shoals Library

Chinese New Year Celebration: Saturday, January 28 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. at Chamblee Library

Winter Reading Challenge: All the Feels
Experience all the feels in January with a virtual bingo card reading challenge! Earn fun, emoji-themed badges from logging your reading, completing activities, and submitting book reviews. Everyone who participates will win a small prize.

Musical Booking: "A Story and a Song" at Decatur Library

Musical Booking concerts are back! Mountain Sam Wheelock brings his eclectic musical stylings and stories to the Decatur Library Auditorium stage in his new show, "A Story and a Song."

The concert is at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10. Support is provided by the Friends of Decatur Library. Admission is free. Reserve your spot using our event calendar here.

Get Moving With Chair Exercises for Seniors

Join fitness instructor John Lewis to learn how to exercise from the comfort of a chair. Check with your physician before starting any new healthcare routine. The class is on Wednesday, January 25 from noon-1:00 p.m. at Gresham Library. Find more information here.
