Enjoy a Month of Gratitude with Your Local Public Library

November 3, 2022

We're Thankful For You

As we head into November, the month of gratitude, I want to express my gratitude to each of you for allowing us to serve you. We know that you have many options to meet your information needs and are grateful that you choose us.  I am also grateful for all of our staff members' dedication to continuing to deliver timely and relevant services.

Please consider trying out our newest service at Washington Memorial Library, Book-A-Librarian, with Adult Literacy Librarian Rebekah. Book-A-Librarian provides the opportunity to have a one-on-one conversation with a librarian to discover your next great read, discuss reading challenges, and get connected to resources available to meet your reading needs. These 15 - 30 minute sessions can be scheduled via phone call or visit in person

Last and certainly not least, we are grateful for our partners! This past month, Library WoW teamed up with our Children's Department at Washington Memorial Library to provide library story times to 400 children at 3 childcare centers over just 5 days! It was a library and literacy whirlwind!

We plan to keep the momentum going as we move into the holiday season with more of the library programming you love, newly expanded library services to better assist you, and interactions with the community outside of library spaces.

Meet us in the streets at the next Open Streets Macon session. We'll be in the historic Pleasant Hill and Vineville neighborhoods along Walnut St., Clayton St., Buford Pl., and Oak Haven Ave playing games and enjoying the great outdoors.

¿Habla español? The Library Without Walls (WoW) will be at Smiley's Flea Market on November 19th from 9 AM -12 PM providing a range of library services from library card sign-ups, checking out books, and answering questions about our libraries. A member of staff will be present to help with translating English and Spanish.

Check out the November dates in your handy dandy Autumn 2022 Programming Guides. Our staff has planned some fun and cozy events to help you get into the holiday spirit. You can also check out these events on our web calendar

As always if you find yourself in need of a reading recommendation or any other assistance you are more than welcome to call and visit our locations.

We look forward to seeing you.

Leaders in Literacy

Middle Georgia Regional Library is proud to be recognized as a leader in literacy. Literacy in 21st century Macon reflects our community’s ability to make sense of and shape the world. In addition to our work with print-word literacy, we enhance technological literacy through classes and free public access to computers. Our Business and Nonprofit Center is building financial literacy to empower entrepreneurs and nonprofit leaders. We also encourage life skills literacy. Whether we are teaching resume workshops or crochet classes, we are giving members of our community the tools to live informed, engaged lives.

The Macon-Bibb Libraries Endowment Fund at the Community Foundation of Central Georgia was created to endow the future of the Macon-Bibb County libraries and will help us continue our mission to connect all people to the information necessary to improve their lives through excellent services and materials.
