Middle Georgia Regional Library : Thank you for spending your summer with us

August 2, 2022

We've thoroughly enjoyed having you with us for our 2022 Summer Reading Program. This was our first Summer Reading Program with pre-pandemic participation. I am thrilled to say that as a system we read over 1 million minutes!

We also participated in over 300 engaging activities from ocean-themed crafts and games to book clubs, S.T.E.A.M-based workshops, and live-animal shows. We hope you've enjoyed diving into "Oceans of Possibilities" with us this summer as much as we have.
As summer comes to an end and we begin to go back to school,  we wish all returning students, faculty, and staff a successful and fulfilling school year. Our libraries will continue to support you with the same excellent library services and materials (and even some new ones) you'll need for an excellent year of learning and growing.

We are super excited about an update that has been completed on our Consumer Health Complete database. It is a long trusted and accurate resource for all your health and wellness needs. The new update includes a quick find index, a guide to natural remedies, and digital animations of common medical procedures. Are you curious whether that natural therapy you heard about is safe to try? Maybe you'd like a fact sheet or pamphlet about a health condition? Maybe you want to see a computer-generated explanation of a heart bypass procedure? Don't trust your health to a random internet search. Your library card provides you with dependable and accurate information at home as well as at the library. You can search the Consumer Health Complete on your home computer or your mobile device through the GALILEO button on our website.

As a friendly reminder, in August most of our libraries take a break from library programming and will resume in September.

Have a wonderful first day of school.

In addition to our work with print-word literacy, we enhance technological literacy through classes and free public access to computers. Our Business and Nonprofit Center is building financial literacy to empower entrepreneurs and nonprofit leaders. We also encourage life skills literacy. Whether we are teaching resume workshops or crochet classes, we are giving members of our community the tools to live informed, engaged lives.

The Macon-Bibb Libraries Endowment Fund at the Community Foundation of Central Georgia was created to endow the future of the Macon-Bibb County libraries and will help us continue our mission to connect all people to the information necessary to improve their lives through excellent services and materials.
