Need To Know: City Of Augusta's 2022 Election Information

On May 24, 2022, voters in Richmond County will head to the polls to cast a vote in a General Primary and Nonpartisan Election. Voters will need to choose either a Democratic, Nonpartisan, or Republican Ballot. Democratic and Republican Ballots will contain all party candidates, questions, and Nonpartisan candidates. The Nonpartisan ballot will not contain any party candidates or questions. 

Precinct Information Cards are currently being mailed now. Every registered voter will receive a new card with new district assignment. If voters need to change their address they can fill out the address portion and return to the Board of Elections. Polling place information is on the inside of the card. The card is not required to vote. It is for information purposes only. Cards can also be download from the Georgia Secretary of State My Voter Page. 

Polling Place Changes for voters who would normally vote at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church have moved to Carrie J. Mays Community Center. Voters in precincts 804 and part of 801 have moved to Blythe Recreation Center.

The Voter Registration deadline was Monday, April 25, 2022. All persons casting a ballot in the General Primary and Nonpartisan election must be registered to vote and residents of Richmond County. Voters have many options for casting their ballot, including:

Voting by Mail started on April 25, 2022. Applications are being accepted now. Interested persons must apply by submitting an absentee ballot request form located on our website at www.augustaga.gov/vote. Applications can be mailed to our office at 535 Telfair Street, Suite 500, Augusta, Georgia, 30901, by fax at 706-821-2814 or by email at richmondelections@augustaga.gov. Voters can also apply for a ballot by visiting the online absentee portal at securemyabsenteeballot.sos.ga.gov/s/ The last day to request a ballot is May 13, 2022. Voters who cast an absentee ballot by mail do not have to provide a reason for voting by mail. In order to be counted, voted mail-in absentee ballots must be received by the Board of Elections Office no later than 7:00 PM on May 24, 2022.

Advance Voting will be held beginning, May 2, 2022 in the Linda W. Beazley Community Room in the Municipal Building located at 535 Telfair Street only. Voting hours will be weekdays from 8:30 AM until 5:00 PM daily through Friday, May 13, 2022 and from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM on Saturday, May 7, 2022. Beginning, Saturday May 14, 2022, voting will be available in the Linda W. Beazley Community Room in the Municipal Building, the Henry Brigham Recreation Center, the Robert Howard Community Center at Diamond Lakes, and the Warren Road Recreation Center from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM and the following week Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM until 6:00 PM daily. All voters voting in person during Advance Voting must provide one of the six acceptable forms of photo identification. There will be no Sunday Voting for this election. Voting is not permitted on the Monday prior to the Election.

Election Day Voting will be available from 7:00 AM until 7:00 PM on May 24, 2022 and all polling locations in Richmond County will be open. Voters must report to their assigned precinct in order to vote on Election Day. All voters voting in person on Election Day must provide one of the six acceptable forms of photo identification prior to casting a ballot.
