Testing Weather Sirens on Feb. 8

The Fayette County Emergency Management Agency will conduct a test of the weather sirens Wednesday, February 9th at 9AM.

This test will take place across the county, including Peachtree City. If severe weather threatens on the day of the test, it will be postponed until Friday, February 10th at 9:00AM.

The Fayette County Emergency Management Agency coordinates the county’s mitigation preparedness, response and recovery to disasters. The agency works with local, state, and federal governments, in partnership with the private sector and faith-based community, to prevent and respond to natural and man-made emergencies.

Sign up for Citizen Police Academy

How do cops do their job?

The Peachtree City police department aims to answer that question at its annual citizens' police academy.

Now in its 21st year, the citizens' police academy teaches residents how crime scenes are processed, how traffic laws are enforced, and how officers take a suspect into custody while protecting themselves and others from harm.

The 10-week course also includes a ride-along with an officer and a tour of the 911 communications center.

Applications for the citizens' police academy are now being accepted. Participants must be at least 18 years old and pass a background check.
