A Visit from Author Anita Gail  Jones!

We had the pleasure of receiving a surprise visit from debut author Anita Gail Jones this past Thursday!  Born and raised in Albany, Georgia (and the setting for her new novel, The Peach Seed), Anita was passing through Thomasville on her book tour and simply had to stop into the library, as they are close to her heart - her mother being a former librarian.

Carol took Anita and her cousin on a brief tour of the library, both of whom gushed about its size and how lovely it is.  They snapped several pictures of our mural of Thomasville and checked out Charlie Ward's Heisman trophy in the Children's Department; Anita graciously standing for a photo-op before zipping off toward her next destination.  It is always a joy to receive an unannounced visit from a local author!  As Anita says, "Book people are good people."

Keep an eye out for her new novel, The Peach Seed, arriving our New Release shelves soon!

Handpicked by Malcolm Gladwell, Adam Grant, Susan Cain, and Daniel Pink for the Next Big Idea Club, it was named one of The Washington Post's "Notable Works of Nonfiction in 2020" and couldn't be more of an essential book for our times.

Add it to your calendar: Sept 28, 7:00pm.  A conversation with author Kate Murphy.  Tickets are on sale now, online and at the Library.
