Just Write
You want to write, you know you do, but there are so many distractions. At home, the laundry pile whispers to you. The refrigerator hums about what to fix for dinner and you notice the dust bunnies under the kitchen cabinet when you refill your mug with caffeinated inspiration. The dogs want in, the dogs want out. Gotta get the kids and take them to <fill in the blank>.
Once upon a time, fast food and coffee shops were options but now… it’s too hit or miss.
You can depend on the library. Tifton-Tift County Public Library provides space to work, electricity, Internet and books if you need to do research — it’s everything a writer could want.
Join the “Just Write” group, Mondays at 4 PM and build a community to support each other through the tough job of putting words on a page. It’s all waiting here, for you.
End of Summer Book Sale
Unexpected crises and building closures won’t stop the book sale! We used the time to stuff even more items into the sale. For the month of August, you can fill a bag with books for just $5! Items other than books will be $1 apiece unless otherwise labeled. We have new books, old books, audio books, DVDs, VHS tapes, music CDs, and tons of children’s books. This is a great time to prepare for Christmas, fill up the bookcase at your AirBnB, grab some late summer beach reads, or even stock up the classroom. Teachers shop free with their school ID! Share it around!
Junior Gardeners’ Club
The Tiftarea Junior Gardeners’ Club (ages 7–17) will be meeting at the library on Saturday, August 20th from 2–3 PM. The club’s mission is to establish an appreciation for gardening through education and fun for the youth of Tift County. It hopes to grow and preserve the love of gardening for future generations through fostering an understanding of nature by providing a series of educational activities.
Sew You Think You Can Pants?
Want to be able to mend your own clothes? Do you feel the need to know the difference between a seam and a hem? Is your old family sewing machine guilting you out for not using it? Then join the library’s bi-weekly sewing program, next meeting Wednesday, August 17th at 5 PM! Registering ahead of time is recommended, as a limited number of sewing machines will be available. Have your own machine? We have outlets! Join us!
