Envelopes of Love Fundraiser

The Tifton-Tift County Public Library is back from our January programming hiatus and kicking things off with a bang! We have a fantastic calendar full of new programming but we need a bit of help from our community to fund even bigger and better things! Therefore, for the whole month of February, we will be running an Envelopes of Love Fundraiser!

How does it work? Easy peasy! Envelopes representing different monetary amounts ($1-$50) will be displayed in the lobby of the library. Patrons can share some love for TTCPL and grab an envelope that fits their budget and bring it to the circulation desk. Donations can be made by cash, check, or debit/credit card, either publicly or anonymously. That’s it! Donors that chose a public donation will be included on our HUGE THANK YOU list at the end of the month. Proceeds will all go directly into our Programming fund.

Book Highlights

Adult Fiction

The assassination of a Treadstone agent leads two Blackbriar operatives down a rabbit hole of deceit and betrayal in this explosive new series from the world of Robert Ludlum.

A car explodes along a quiet Prague side street — among the dead is an undercover Treadstone agent. It’s not unusual for such men to meet their fates on an operation, but in this case there’s one catch. None of his superiors know what he was doing there.

Two Blackbriar operatives, Helen Jouvert and Donovan Wade, are sent to investigate. Their search for answers will take them deeper into the world of conspiracy and fake news than they ever expected.

Treadstone and Blackbriar may be two sides of the same coin, intelligence and counterintelligence, but they have one thing in common, answers can be the deadliest commodity of all.

Adult Nonfiction

“If you want something said, ask a man. If you want something done, ask a woman.” ?Margaret Thatcher

In the spirit of Thatcher’s quote, Ambassador Nikki R. Haley offers inspiring examples of women who worked against obstacles and opposition to get things done ? including Haley herself. As a brown girl growing up in Bamberg, South Carolina, no one would have predicted she would become the first minority female governor in America, the first female and the first minority governor in South Carolina, or the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. Her journey wasn’t an easy one. She faced many people who thought she didn’t belong ? and who told her so. She was too brown. Too female. Too young. Too conservative. Too principled. Too idealistic. As far as Nikki was concerned, those were not reasons to hold her back. Those were all reasons to forge ahead.

She drew inspiration from other trailblazing women throughout history who summoned the courage to be different and lead. This personal and compelling book celebrates ten remarkable women who dared to be bold, from household names like Margaret Thatcher and Israel’s former prime minister Golda Meir, to Jeane Kirkpatrick, the first female U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, to lesser-known leaders like human rights activist Cindy Warmbier, education advocate Virginia Walden Ford, civil rights pioneer Claudette Colvin, and more. Woven with stories from Haley’s own childhood and political career, If You Want Something Done will inspire the next generation of leaders.

Children's

In her debut picture book, professional Indigenous dancer Ria Thundercloud tells the true story of her path to dance and how it helped her take pride in her Native American heritage.

At four years old, Ria Thundercloud was brought into the powwow circle, ready to dance in the special jingle dress her mother made for her. As she grew up, she danced with her brothers all over Indian country. Then Ria learned more styles — tap, jazz, ballet — but still loved the expressiveness of Indigenous dance. And despite feeling different as one of the only Native American kids in her school, she always knew she could turn to dance to cheer herself up.

Follow along as Ria shares her dance journey — from dreaming of her future to performing as a professional — accompanied by striking illustrations that depict it while bringing her graceful movements to life.

Young Adult

The majestic conclusion to Maggie Stiefvater’s Dreamer Trilogy.

This is the story of the Lynch family.

Niall and Mór escaped their homeland for a new start, and lost themselves in what they found.

Declan has grown up as the responsible son, the responsible brother — only to find there is no way for him to keep his family safe.

Ronan has always lived on the edge between dreams and waking…but now that edge is gone, and he is falling.

Matthew has been the happy child, the brightest beam. But rebellion beckons, because it all feels like an illusion now.

This world was not made for such a family — a family with the power to make a world and break it. If they cannot save each other or themselves, we are all doomed.
