Beginning Computer Classes Begins in November

The Tifton Library is glad to announce the return of the Beginners Computer Class program. This class is directed to adults who have questions on how to use computers, figure out their smartphones, and how to navigate social media. This class is free to join, and there is no need to register. Classes take place every 1st and 3rd Friday at 10 a.m., and will meet at the library. If you can’t make those, we offer this class at the Leroy Rogers Senior Center every 1st Tuesday of the month at 10 a.m. as well.

Arts Affair November 3rd & November 4th

The Tifton Council for the Arts is thrilled to announce the new name for their annual arts festival! The Arts Affair will be a two-day festival held in downtown Tifton every fall. The Arts Affair will include a FREE community wide concert on Friday, November 3rd and an arts festival on Saturday, November 4th 2023, in and around the grounds of the Syd Blackmarr Arts Center. The Arts Affair will kick off Saturday at 9:30 a.m. with a children’s parade from Fulwood Park to the festival grounds. The festival will begin at 10:00 a.m. and will feature an art exhibit, Artist Market, children’s Arts Circus, Author’s Row, food trucks, art demonstrations, a Sweet Taste of Tifton, and live performances throughout the day.

Adult Crafting: Autumn Leaves Wreath November 7th

The fall crafting continues on November 7th at 5 p.m. with Ms. Lesley! For this Adult Crafting Night, we will be making autumn wreaths out of felt leaves and twine. This program is free and open to all adults, so feel free to bring a friend. Just make sure to register as spots fill up fast! Budget Bites Cooking Classes November 13th

Looking for some fun, easy, budget friendly recipes to add to your weekly repertoire? The library has you covered. Join us at Conger Kitchen for a fun night as our resident foodie, Will McCranie, teaches you how to make his famous Garlic Parm Chicken Pasta. This program will take place on November 13th at 5 p.m., so make sure to register by calling us at 229-386-7148 or by stopping by and visiting the circulation desk!

Weekly Calendar of Events

Monday, October 30th

 - 4 p.m. - Marvel Movie Madness: This program aimed for older teens and young adults is all about Marvel! Here, patrons get to watch a Marvel movie such as Spider-man or X-men. Movies are PG 13+ but are not M rated. This movie night, we will be watching Dr. Strange.
 
 - 5 p.m. - ESOL: Join us at the Tifton Library for free ESOL classes held every Monday and Thursday! This program is designed for Hispanic participants to learn English. All are welcome!

 - 5-7 p.m. - Cricut Class: Welcome to the wonderful world of Cricut! This free program introduces you to the ins-and-outs of everyone's favorite cutting machine. You can choose between a Tote or a T-Shirt. (T-Shirt sizes limited to L and XL.) Call to preregister as spots are limited. Join us to be a part of the Cricut trend and enter your very own, truly customizable world!

Tuesday, October 31st

 - 5 p.m. - Trick Or Treat Downtown: Happy Halloween! Stop by the library and pick up some treats!

Wednesday, November 1st

 - 9:30 a.m. - Artful Mornings: Don’t worry, the fall fun doesn’t end in October. Join our wonderful Ms. Ashley on November 1st at 10 a.m.  and get crafting! This month’s Artful Morning craft will be a decorative pumpkin made out of rope, ribbons and paper plates. Make sure to register for this free program by calling us at 229-386-7148, or by visiting the circulation desk.

 - 5 p.m. - Teen Advisory Group: The teen advisory group, also known as TAG, is a monthly meeting on the first Wednesday of each month. The group is run by teens for teens. The group discusses, brainstorms and decides which programs or events they wish the library would hold for teens. This is an opportunity for them to come enhance the library's current programs and future programs so all of their interests are put into a program decided by teens themselves.

Thursday, November 2nd

 - 11 a.m. - Reading Rascals: This program is a weekly storytime for the littles that includes stories, songs, and a mess free craft. Caregivers must accompany their littles. Hosted by our lovely Ms. Grace, make sure to stop by and have some fun!

 - 5 p.m. - Anime Club: Teens are welcome to come attend this program, watch some anime, and have fun! This week, we are watching Spy X Family and Assassination Classroom. No registration is necessary.

 - 5 p.m. - Clases De Ingles: Join us at the Tifton Library for free ESOL classes held every Monday and Thursday! This program is designed for Hispanic participants to learn English. All are welcome!

 - 5 p.m. - Hora De Cuentos en Español: Hora De Cuentos en Español: ¡Ven a visitarnos para nuestra hora de cuentos en español! ¡Los niños de 0 a 5 años y sus cuidadores disfrutarán de historias, canciones y más con nuevos amigos!

Spanish Story Time: Come visit us for our Spanish Story Time! Children ages 0-5 and their caregivers will enjoy stories, songs, and more with new friends!

Friday,November 3rd

 - 10 a.m. - Homeschool Hangout: Join us at the Tifton- Tift County Public Library for Homeschool Hangout! Homeschool families are more than welcome to come meet with other homeschool families to have fun and get to know others in the homeschooling community as well! There will be activities and crafts for all ages! No registration is required.

 - 10 a.m. - Beginning Computer Class: This program provides a good space for adults to ask any technology related questions. Feel free to stop by with any questions regarding computers, smartphones, and social media. No registration necessary.

Saturday, November 4th

 - 9 a.m. - The Arts Affair: Don't forget to stop by the Syd Blackmarr Arts Center and Downtown Tifton to join in on all the fun. There will be vendors, performers, and a parade at Fulwood Park! See you there!

 - 9 a.m. - Japanese Drummers: Regulars at Walt Disney World Epcot, The Matsuriza Japanese Taiko Drummers are making their way to Tifton, GA! Japanese taiko drums have been enthralling audiences for 2,000 years- in religious ceremonies, in festivals, for rain and crops, even on the battlefields as soldiers prayed for elusive victory. Under the talented leadership of Takemasa Ishikura, who has influenced the group to play both traditional music as well as composed arrangements, the troupe has become well known and beloved by many. So, mark your calendars! This is one performance you don't want to miss!
