State of the Town

Mayor Dial delivered the annual State of the Town address during our Council meeting last night. I encourage you to take a few moments to review his remarks on our YouTube channel. The address begins at 2 minutes 20 seconds on the video.

Annual Audit: The Results Are In

Julie George, CPA from the Town's auditing firm, Rushton and Company, presented the results of our annual audit for fiscal year 2022 (July 2021 - June 2022) during last night's Council meeting. Keeping with tradition, the auditor's opinion of the Town's financials was that they "present fairly, in all material respects..." which is the result we always want to see in an audit. We are grateful for our finance staff, Sandra Beach (Finance Manager) and Bridget Smith (Accounting Technician) for their hard work and diligence in managing the Town's funds and ensuring proper accounting practices year after year.

You can view the full presentation on our YouTube channel.

The full audit report document is available on our website.

AMWaste Service Delivery Update

Tyrone Residents,
Please see below for an update from AMWaste on some upcoming changes to their operations. These changes are being implemented by AMWaste's new management for our region after a review of our history of service delivery issues. They believe that adding dedicated trucks to handle yard and bulk waste on pre-set days will help to significantly reduce missed pick-ups and other issues.

Key Points:

Changes are effective March 1, 2023.
- Your current trash pick up day will not change.
- Yard Waste will ONLY be picked up on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month. NO CALL IN IS REQUIRED - just have your yard waste bagged and at the curb by 7am on the pre-set days.
- Bulk items will ONLY be picked up on the 2nd Monday of each month. YOU MUST CALL AMWASTE AT 706-298-7274 AHEAD OF TIME TO SCHEDULE.

Please reach out to AMWaste at 706-298-7274 if you have any questions about these changes.

The 2023 SPLOST vote is coming up. Learn more about SPLOST and review the Town's proposed projects at www.tyronega.gov/splost

Our amazing staff can only do so much when it comes to hosting events here in Town, so we rely on help from citizen volunteers to pull it all together. Volunteering is a great way to be involved and make a difference in your community! Reach out to Lynda Owens at the Recreation Department to learn more: lowens@tyrone.org | 770-487-4694

We are starting the planning process for Founder's Day and would love to have your input and assistance in making it a great event! Volunteering for the Founder's Day Committee is a great way to do that!
