Dear First District Family & Friends,

As Thanksgiving Day approaches, I hope that you and those you hold dear will have the opportunity to enjoy one another’s company and that joy and gratitude will fill your hearts this holiday season. Even in our most challenging moments, there is someone or something that for which we can be thankful. For me, it's my family and every second that I am given to spend with them. Additionally, I am grateful for the opportunity represent the residents of the First District on the City Council.

This week, I had the pleasure of collaborating on some special Thanksgiving events. On Monday afternoon, 45 teens (including teens from La Pintoresca Teen Education Center/LPTEC, the Boys & Girls Club, McKinley Middle School, Rosebud Academy, and the Pasadena Ambassadors program) had the opportunity to work with the head chef of the Pasadena Convention Center) to learn how to prep and carve a turkey for Thanksgiving! A short video from that event is included below. Special thanks to the Convention Center team for welcoming the teens to participate in this event, the LPTEC team for recruiting teens to have this experience, and Miracle on 1st Street for providing the turkeys for the event.

On Tuesday morning, along with Convention Center staff, Union Station Homeless Services, and two of my Council colleagues, I helped with prepping for the annual Union Station Homeless Services Thanksgiving Dinner in the Park event. On Tuesday afternoon, with turkeys again generously provided by Miracle on 1st Street, I collaborated with the La Pintoresca Teen Education Center team on our annual Thanksgiving Giveaway event. Thanks to the LPTEC team and local businesses, Titan Disposal and Pasadena Interiors, for their support of this event. It's been a great kickoff to the holiday season. I included a few photos below.

In case you haven't heard, the City Manager made appointments for the Chief of Police and the General Manager of PWP this week. You can read more about both of those appointees below. I look forward to them joining the City of Pasadena team.

If you haven't already, please be sure to register for the annual First District Rose Ticket Lottery. The registration link is included below. Also, please take a moment to learn about this year's shop local campaign -- Authentically Yours, Pasadena.

Sincerely,

Tyron Hampton
