What’s the scoop on things to do in Athens this week? There’s always something for families, couples, students, retirees, and everyone else who wants to get to know their city a little better. With temperatures finally starting to warm up, you’ll want to get out and enjoy yourself this week with these five events in Athens.
The lines between performance, visual, and musical art continue to blur, and Ad-Verse Fest is bringing this fusion front and center. Hosted by the Lamar Dodd School of Art at UGA, solo and duo performers will share their blended artistic talents with the Athens community through songs, visuals, and motion. You can catch performances on Friday March 1 and Saturday, March 2 at the Caledonia Lounge, Flicker Theater & Bar, and Go Bar. Tickets are $10 for a single day and $15 for both days.
Georgia-based jam band Perpetual Groove will be at the Georgia Theatre this Friday, March 1. True to their name, they’re bringing an endless fusion of southern rock, jazzy improvs, and synth loops that entrance and allow you to fall into the music. Tickets range from $17.50-$20 and can be purchased from the Georgia Theatre website. This show begins at 9 p.m. and is intended for ages 18 and up.

New York writer, comedian, and podcaster Hari Kondabolu is taking over the stage at 40 Watt Club on Saturday, March 2. With a reputation for political comedy, this epic comedian features a long list of accolades and high-profile appearances, including Conan, Jimmy Kimmel Live, the Late Show with David Letterman, and his Netflix special “Warn Your Relatives.” Tickets are $20 and can be purchased in advance. This show is for audiences age 18 and up.

The largest consignment sale of its kind in Athens, the Kindermarket is the perfect chance to score like-new items for baby and kids at deep discounts. From Thursday through Saturday, shoppers can shop from up to 300 vendors selling new and used baby items, children’s clothing, toys, nursery gear, and more. Entry to Thursday’s sale is $4 for the general public, with all-day shopping Friday and Saturday free to the public.
International experiences don’t require leaving the country. Leave your passport at home on Friday, March 1 and head to UGA’s Memorial Hall Ballroom for International Coffee Hour. This weekly program is designed to bring UGA students, faculty, and community members together. Indulge in international meals over a cup of Jittery Joe’s coffee. This event is free and open to the public, no tickets required.
